This is one of those diets that many of you may have tried in the past and found that it didn't work. Although the grapefruit diet seems very easy, it doesn't produce results and is far from a healthy and permanent way of dieting.

So what is the grapefruit diet all about? The grapefruit diet promises that you can lose up to 50 pounds in as little as two and a hald months time. Are you kidding? Not only is this type of weight loss very unhealthy, but is also nearly impossible without totally depriving your body of nutrients.

Grapefruit does not contain any fat burning properties and all weight that is lost is due to the diets 800-1000 calorie intake. Grapefruit is a healthy fruit which is fat free and low in calories but any similar diet based on any fruit would work it would also be unhealthy and not give the required nutrition. If you are after a short-term plan like this the cabbage soup diet is better version. Though with both the weight soon returns.
