In 1885, Louis Vuitton was introduced to the current Britain as its first store opened in London. In 1888, Georges Vuitton had figured out a new design for Vuitton luggage. His pattern consisted of a checkerboard of beige and chestnut and the inscription "Louis Vuitton, marque deposee". Though he listed that it was a Vuitton product, it was still counterfeit. This design was enough to earn the Louis Vuitton company a gold medal at the Paris World Fair in 1889.

Vuitton was booming in sales, despite the counterfeit copies. Though he was doing well in business, his personal life was certainly not at a halt. In 1880, his son Georges married Josephine Patrelle. On their wedding day, Louis gave over control of the Rue Scribe store to Georges. Only 3 years later, Louis became a grandfather as Georges' son Gaston-Louis Vuitton was born.

In 1860, Vuitton was forced to relocate his factory to Asniéres where he expanded due to increasing demand. 7 years later, in 1867 Louis Vuitton won a bronze medal at the World's Fair. This boosted Vuitton's already booming fame, as the company gained international acknowledgment In 1869, Ismail Pasha, Khedive of Egypt ordered a set of trunks, and in 1877 Grand Dude Nicholas of Russia, a future Czar, ordered a set. Another world leader at the time, King Alphonse XI of Spain, also bought a set of trunks. In 1871 Vuitton moved yet again to Jockey Club, Number 1 Rue Scribe. Vuitton's method of using canvas on a flatweight flat trunk was intelligent, as it protected the contents of the luggage from being stolen. Yet, it was easily copied. Vuitton took measures to fix this in 1872, with the creation of another canvas. This canvas was colored beige and red, and it became known as 'Striped Canvas'. Louis Vuitton reached great success, but again it was copied and counterfeited copies were sold.
